Hadoop is an excellent tool for analyzing large data sets, but it lacks an easy-to-use graphical interface. RapidMiner is an excellent tool for data analytics, but its data size is limited by the memory available, and a single machine is often not enough to run the analyses on time. In this project, we combine the strengths of both projects and provide a RapidMiner extension for editing and running ETL, data analytics and machine learning processes over Hadoop.

Nowadays, we interact with mobile phones via 15-20 small buttons, which makes it extremely hard to reach certain functions. To write the word "hello" needs 15 button presses on an average mobile. We also need long keystrokes to find someone in the contact list with hundreds of names. Voice dialling has been available for many years, but it isn't reliable at noisy places, and we just don't feel confortable to talk to our phones when others are listening. There are vast amounts of unstructured data on the web that is hardly understandable for people and machines. Useful information can be obtained with data mining methods from these datasets, and visualization tools can make it easier to discover new relations. In this project, we were trying to visualize celebrities appearing on a Hungarian news portal.
A dataset like this holds a lot of information inside. Different groups, like sportsmen or members of political parties, can be distinguished. This way we can get a bird's eye view on the most important celebrities.
